Business Unit Controller


As Business unit Controller you are responsible for monitoring, analyzing, reporting and advising on the financial performance of the Business Unit (BU) Frozen. This BU is one of the European market leaders for frozen bake-off products in retail and foodservice, with the ambition to further transform the bakery market worldwide: Turkey, the Middle East, Russia & other export markets in Asia & America.
  • You advise the BU COO, Group CEO and Group CFO on financial and organizational topics on short and long term, enabling them to manage and steer the financial performance of the business unit and to realize the strategic goals.
  • You lead budgets and operational results. You analyse and challenge results of the different countries, you present the conclusions of your analysis to the BU COO, allowing for timely corrective action where needed.
  • You own and steer financial planning and reporting processes in the BU in accordance with HQ requirements.
  • You develop clear strategic scenario’s for important business cases in the BU. You coordinate the process of info gathering across the involved countries and departments, you coach other controllers involved, you develop financial models yourself when needed.
  • You follow up on the project portfolio of the business unit. You coordinate the approval process of new projects, you connect the portfolio to strategic priorities and link it to the financial plans of the business unit.
  • You’re the financial right hand to the BU COO and as such are a real business partner. You are a member of the global Frozen Leadership team, where you lead all finance related topics (results, forecasts, business cases). You’re not afraid to leave the finance comfort zone; you widen your span of control by maximally connecting to your business stakeholders and other support services.
  • You’re based in the BU headquarters in Erpe-Mere and you report hierarchically to the Group Controlling Manager with dotted line to the BU COO.


  • You hold a master degree in economics.
  • You have a solid professional experience in a finance function with close connection to senior business leaders.
  • People management experience is a plus, not a must.
  • You’re a fluent communicator and able to create impact towards senior business leaders.
  • You speak and write in English as if it were your mother tongue.
  • Strong analytical skills, you are able to develop and present your case and weigh in on decision-making
  • You have experience in financial modeling, you love it and you’re good at it.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Knowing your way in SAP and Power BI is a plus.
  • You’re not afraid of flying. Frequent business travels (approx. 20%) are not giving you cold sweat.
