Who are we looking for?

The position holder manages all the internal stakeholders of Public Affairs and CSR, and supports in the strategic thinking and storytelling in order to position Lineas as an effective influencer by setting the agenda in the Belgian and European rail freight logistics landscape and enabling the contact for the rail freight business.

What are your duties?

Strategic support to the Public Affairs & CSR Director

  • Support the Director in structuring and coordinating Public Affairs and CSR activities within the organisation, both internally in Belgium and abroad on a country (Germany, France, the Netherlands) and European level, and also organise the back office of these activities.
  • Challenge the Director and co-develop the strategy
  • Stay on top of strategic evolutions that may create possibilities for Lineas
  • Assure continued alignment around the deliverables of PA and CSR
  • Prepare all major board meetings of national and international professional federations: development of Lineas’ position on agenda points, organise and follow-up of internal stakeholder meetings, draft position papers, presentations or other communication tools
  • Prepare Lineas’ input for all national and international professional federations and internal stakeholders requests: development of Lineas’ response by organising and following up internal stakeholder meetings, draft convincing presentations or other communication tools
  • Represent the Director when needed: in case of non-availability, act as ‘sherpa’ whenever requested or needed, …

Internal stakeholder management

  • Coordinate and develop a common Public Affairs and CSR approach and methodology throughout the Lineas organisation.
  • Define and establish internal decision processes regarding PA and CSR topics
  • Assure continued alignment around the deliverables of PA and CSR
  • Build – mainly internally – coalitions and seek consensus around certain proposals
  • Debrief all (mostly) internal stakeholders

Coordinate, conceptualize and prepare all external and internal communication PA & CSR material

  • Conceptualize and produce the narratives in the most appropriate format
  • Coordinate with the experts on communication
  • Daily follow-up of all relevant media (social, audio-visual and written press)
  • Prepare internal public affairs newsletter and actively liaise with Communication for the external newsletter
  • Advise our Communication department on the development of press and other stakeholder communication

Public funding

  • Have an overview and keep up-to-date EU public funding opportunities in the countries for innovation and hardware investments
  • Assist Lineas internally to seize opportunities and business concepts
  • Supervise the follow-up, reporting and audits of such public founded projects

Coordination of functional expertise at Programme and EU level

  • Coordination of all expert activities, and act as main public funding expert, within Public Affairs team and Lineas ensuring a full alignment of Lineas’ position and activities at EU level
  • Assist Lineas in its leading role in converting the Rail Freight Forward Coalitions’ White Paper 30by2030 into reality. From vision RFF1 to deployment RFF2 with main focus on the 5 key game changers. This requires coordination & lobbying among Railway Undertakings (member of the Coalition), with EU authorities, with railway professional bodies such as CER and UIC as well as Erfa, UIIR etc. It also requires coordination of Lineas’ position & activities in all these bodies as well as in the EU Rail Freight Corridors.

What is your profile?

  • Master degree in a domain such as Business Management / Supply Chain Management / International Development / International studies / Law / Politics / Engineering, …
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Outstanding analysis and summarizing skills
  • Strong writing and power point skills
  • You inspire actions from people and you lead by example
  • You can work independently
  • You are fluent in French, Dutch and English (both written and oral). German is a big plus.
  • You have a proven track record in strategic consulting, managing stakeholders preferably in an international environment
  • Experience in particular administrative experience with authorities is very useful
  • Prior knowledge or experience of the chemical sector, the railways sector or an industrial setting more in general is a real plus
  • You can thrive in an rapidly changing and evolving company
  • Turning vision & strategy into docs that are easy to understand and to use by outsiders
  • Translating vision & strategy into concepts that may be interesting for public authorities to finance
