Who are we looking for?

  • The main goal for Head of Process Engineering and his team of Subject Matter Experts is to steer the documentation, centralization and standardization of Operational expertise, as well as mapping Operational processes and creating/assembling operational data to provide insights into these processes. In other words, he/she acts as the main point of contact when operational info, -data or -processes have to be acquired. In order to do so, he/she will seek close collaboration with supporting business units (eg. SHC, BI, Business Controlling, Business Management, software development,…). He/she makes sure that this info is easily retrievable, using specific IT platforms (eg. Lineas Integrated Management System, Tableau,…)
  • The Head of Process Engineering provides a vision and strategy for his/her department and people, that is in line with the strategy of LPS, but with a strong focus on operational know-how, -processes and -data. He/she defines the high-level Operational process architecture in collaboration with the Operational management teams of Lineas BE, Lineas Intermodal & Lineas DE/NL/FR
  • Finally, the Head of Process Engineering uses the gathered (data) insights to drive continuous improvement initiatives in order to increase the overall performance of operational processes. These will support in determining technical innovations and/or software developments. He/she defines a standardized methodology and structure to re-write and document operational processes and seamlessly integrates the latter into the Lineas Integrated Management System. He/she makes sure that all aspects related to the implementation stages of business process improvement initiatives are well executed.

What are your duties?

  • You are hierarchically responsible (Lead, Inspire, Coach and Grow) for the Operations Architect, SME’s, Operational Masterdata Specialist and the different Operational Application Owners. You will steer them to document, centralize and standardize know-how about Operations, its processes and data.
  • You define and provide a standardized methodology and structure to re-write and document operational processes and technical expertise.
  • You will make sure that this methodology and structure is translated into training and info sessions.
  • You are responsible for supervising the profound translation of corporate processes into standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and oversee the validation and deployment process.
  • You translate the performance of your process group into key (process) performance indicators. In order to do so, you work together with specific business units (eg. BI). You supervise the overall processes performance by monitoring these KPI’s.
  • You build a sustainable network with your business partners to further develop LPS as an internal knowledge center and facilitate the sharing of expertise among these partners in order to release the collective know-how within Lineas.
  • Together with the subject matter experts and other stakeholders you organize process review & approval sessions, you identify operational weaknesses, conduct root cause analysis, use advanced statistical tools to correlate issues and come with an action plan to improve the process.
  • You define the focus areas of improvement for the process architecture in collaboration with the Operational management teams of Lineas BE, Lineas Intermodal & Lineas DE/NL/FR (based on several decision criteria: productivity, quality, cost, lead time, etc.). This could lead to software changes or technical innovations and you supervise their development and implementation by working closely together with LPS Program Managers, as well as supporting business units.
  • You decide on the priority of developments or changes to operational applications and software (eg. MIA, RITA, GEO-loc, etc.) and you track the overall budget, planning and scope of these changes.
  • You make sure that updated procedures and policies are translated into well-documented process changes on the Lineas Integrated Management System which are used for these specific purposes.
  • You interact with support business units of certain departments (eg. IT, innovation,…) to make sure that his process group is automated as much as possible.
  • You take responsibility for the quality assurance and overall integrity of the process by making sure that the framework implemented to design, implement and improve process (BMP, Lean methodology, Six Sigma, continuous improvement) are well followed up;
  • You present progress reports and integrate feedback.

What is your profile?

  • You have a Master degree or equivalent by experience.
  • Your perfectly trilingual: English/Dutch/French.
  • You have a background in Process Engineering
  • You have a background and experience in Lean Management.
  • You are capable of doing big data analysis.
  • You have experience in Business Process Modeling and Project management.
