Financial Controller

As a Financial Controller (m/v/x) you will be responsible for the company’s day to day financial activities and business processes.
You will join a dynamic and enthusiastic team of 3 people and report directly to the Senior Financial controller.

As a Financial Controller you will be in charge of the following tasks:

  • Analyzing and preparing financial statements, including profit-and-loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and statements of financial position;
  • Performing ad hoc reporting, analyses and investigative issues;
  • Assisting with budgeting and during monthly closings through the elaboration of periodic control lists;
  • Examining all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies;
  • Creating systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations;
  • Reporting to the senior financial controller with timely and accurate financial information
  • Assisting the Senior Financial Controller in presenting reports;
  • Supporting the internal departments by finding opportunities and ways to improve in the financial processes;
  • Monitoring all aspects of revenue and cost for the departments (incl. stores) and business processes. According to this, you will then be responsible for:
    • Analyzing procedures and identify/quantify main risks such as fraud, theft, assets protection,
    • Performing controls and implement corrective action plans that you proposed and designed, either internally (new procedures, …) or with external support (theft prevention, stock-counting,…)
    • Establishing a planning to make sure all risk areas are covered and controlled on a regular basis
  • Being key contact for the stores regarding financial and process aspects (incl. cash reconciliation, contact with banks, controls, …).


  • You preferably have a Master in Finance or Economics.
  • You have an experience in Auditing (Big Four – 1 to 2 years).
  • Knowledge of the retail sector would be considered to be a plus.
  • You have a good knowledge of BE GAAP (knowledge of NL GAAP, FR GAAP is as asset).
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills in French or Dutch (with good knowledge of the second language). You also have a professional knowledge of English.
  • You master Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence or other data analysis tools would be considered as an additional asset.
  • Innovative thinking: you can bring creative but practical suggestions and recommendations.
  • Ability to interact with colleagues at all levels throughout the company.
  • Ability to work under pressure and intensive deadlines.
