Qualitative risk management officer


Do you like to have an helicopter view on the processes within an insurance company? Do you want to understand them and to ensure with the process owners that risks in these processes are controlled? Or do you want to learn about them? Then this job is the right fit for you.

You will be part of the qualitative risk management team at ERGO Insurance. You will work on improving and developing the risk management framework in line with requirements within the company, ERGO Insurance N.V as well as applicable Belgian regulation (Solvency 2 Framework). The emphasis is set on developing Risk Governance & Reporting related topics.

In this, you will closely work together with the other colleagues in risk management, in other departments and at ERGO group level.

Below we set out how the basic objective is translated into the various tasks that will form part of your package of assignments and duties – depending on the task distribution within the team:

  • Assist the team to implement, optimise and monitor the Risk Management Framework required by the internal policy framework and applicable regulations:
    • Coordinate the update of the Quarterly Risk Dashboard and report to the Management Committee;
    • Assist with the closing of open internal & external audit / regulatory findings assigned to Risk Management.
  • Contribute to the elaboration and implementation of a sound Operational Risk framework (including among others):
    • Perform the annual Operational Risk Scenario Analysis;
    • Conduct ad-hoc risk analysis / investigation when required.
  • Contribute to the annual Risk & Control Assessments (RCA’s) as part of the Internal Control System of ERGO Insurance N.V.;
  • Collaborate on process controls and control enhancements, including IT processes;
  • Collaborate on the documentation of risk processes;
  • Implement and further improve the Information Security and Business Continuity Management Framework.
  • Assist in regulatory reporting tasks as ORSA, RSR, SFCR.



You have the following capabilities and qualifications:

  • Master degree with economic orientation (e.g. commercial or civil engineer - with a speciality in IT being an asset);
  • Good command of English (both spoken and written), and preferably knowledge of French or Dutch;
  • Prior work experience in a control environment or similar (Risk Management, Audit, Compliance), preferably in the Financial Service Industry, is an asset.
  • Communication skills: producing written reports and establishing multiple verbal contacts with work colleagues and other departments.
  • The ability to look beyond figures alone / insight into the company / to see the way the various factors connect.
  • Perseverance to see things through (often very difficult assignments).
  • Great eye for detail.
  • Insight into processes.
  • Team-player, but also able to work independently to complete a task successfully.
