VP Engineering


Starting from product requirements or product specification input from the Product Management and Product Owner departments, the Product Development team builds the technical design of the product and elaborates the architecture of the solution. It insures the robustness, reliability, testability and upgradeability of all building blocks.
The VP Engineering participates to and manages the different steps of the development lifecycle of a product line: evaluation of the technical requirements, elaboration of the architecture, estimation, planning, tracking and reporting of the developments, developer’s automated unit tests, automated deployment and technical documentation.
He also ensures the coordination with the Product Management, Product Owner, Scrum Master and Quality Control teams in the same product line.

Job Description

  • Assess and review requirements and product specifications inputs from the Product Owner department
  • Assess potential technical risks and challenges
  • Develop appropriate mitigation plans
  • Manage and approve technical design proposals
  • Build project planning for projects running in the team.
  • Coordinate allocation of development resources
  • Manage and plan equipment, staffing and training needs within the team and provide necessary input to management for budgeting purposes
  • Supervise development team on daily basis to execute development projects within deadlines and budget, in close collaboration with the different project owners
  • Coordinate the planning and tracking with the other Product Development teams
  • Assure adequate and timely reporting to the SVP CTO
  • Be an active contributor to the Steerco Engineering bi-monthly meeting
  • Collaborate proactively with others Senior Product development managers and traversal teams (Architects, innovations teams)
  • Participate in the communication, exchange of best practices, experiences between de different development teams
  • Participate in the selection, implementation and maintenance of the development tools
  • Manage and execute all people management and HR related activities ( >Set up objectives, Evaluation Process, Development process, Disciplinary issues, Day off planning etc…), …)
  • Put in place, maintain and continually improve software delivery methods and best practices standards like unit testing, peer programming, continuous deliveries, dashboarding, …
  • Coordinate PLM with other department’s interaction (Ops HDW, Ops, Support, Sales, Marketing, Finance…)


  • Master degree or equivalent through experience with software development background
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a software development organization
  • Broadcast background is a plus
  • Highly experienced and skilled in Agile Development and Scrum methodology
  • Experience in distributed and highly available architecture and deployments
  • Strong interest in IT, familiar with common IT environments
  • Technical skills: C#, JAVA, C++, XML, Python, Shell Scripting, Perl, HTML5, Visual C++, Java Script, Web Services and REST, MS SQL, Windows CE, Linux flavors, iOS, Silverlight, Android, Jira, Share Point, MS Word, Excel, Access, MS Project
  • Structured, organized, rigorous, good communicator, decision maker
  • Achieve high quality results through thoughtful analysis and planning; target driven and result oriented
  • Team Management capacity and credible experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, shares information actively; responds properly, reports on-time; accepts criticism and other opinions, addresses criticism constructively

  • High stress resistance does not give up in crisis; does not lose control under pressure.
  • French speaker with a good working knowledge in English
