Windows Systems Consultant (Senior Profile)

Tasks:

• The Windows Systems Consultant is a skilled consultant with a technical background who assists the Systems Architects in the preparation of technical designs, by :
• Analyzing and controlling design documents
• Writing or co-writing technical design documents for Windows-based products
• Providing in-depth technical data about the most recent Windows products
• Performs project implementation tasks
• Performs advanced (3rd level) support tasks on both clients and servers systems
• Writes guidelines for installing configuring and maintaining ICT-systems
• Helps the Systems Engineers by providing them with guidelines about
• Their installation, configuration and maintenance tasks
• Their testing and quality control tasks
• Their support tasks

Mandatory:

• At least five years experience in systems engineering
• At least three years experience in supporting server operating systems
• Very good knowledge of Windows client operating systems (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7)
• Very good knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (Windows Server 2003 [R2] and Windows Server 2008 [R2])
• Very good knowledge of Active Directory services and DDNS services
• Very good overall knowledge of the IT world
• Good knowledge of Client hardware infrastructure (desktops and laptops)
• Good knowledge of Server hardware infrastructure (HP / Dell / Lenovo)
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003 and/or Microsoft Office 2007.
• Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
• Knowledge of networking devices and principles (network firewalls, etc)
• Knowledge of legacy operating systems and their features (Windows NT 4, Windows 2000, Windows 9x, WINS, etc)
• Scripting skills (VBS, ASP, PowerShell, Perl)

Preferred:

• Knowledge of other types of systems (mainframe, Unix, AS/400, etc)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization product
• Knowledge of Microsoft ISA Server
• Knowledge of Microsoft IIS Server / Apache (for Windows)
• Knowledge of Exchange 2007/2010 and related services (fax, blackberry, archiving, spam/virus filters…)
• Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint Services
• Knowledge of Windows Terminal Services
• Knowledge of Microsoft AppV (Softgrid)
• Knowledge of OpenOffice 3 productivity suite
• Knowledge of Packaging and/or Software Distribution software (SystemCentre Configuration Manager or SMS, Symantec Altiris Total Management Suite, etc)
• Knowledge of server based computing infrastructure (Terminal Server / Citrix)
• Knowledge of SystemCentre Operations Manager (SCOM)
• Server virtualisation infrastructure (VmWare eSX, Hyper-V, etc)
• Basic knowledge of DMZ & security infrastructure
• Basic knowledge of Storage and backup software and hardware
