Windows Support Engineer (Junior Profile)

Tasks:

 

  • The Windows Support Engineer is a skilled collaborator with a technical education who
  • Investigates problem cases on Windows-based products, by :
  • Gathering information not delivered by helpdesk collaborators
  • Analyzing problem cases and finding the root cause(s)
  • Consulting Systems Engineers for getting product expertise when needed
  • Designs technical solutions for the investigated problem cases
  • Implements these solutions without damaging production environments
  • Documents these solutions using appropriate IT Services Management tools

Mandatory:

  • Good knowledge of Windows client operating systems (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7)
  • Knowledge of Client hardware infrastructure (desktops and laptops)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003 and/or Microsoft Office 2007 suites
  • Good documenting skills (in English language)
  • Basic overall knowledge of the IT world

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (Windows Server 2003 [R2] and/or Windows Server 2008 [R2])
  • Knowledge of Server hardware infrastructure (HP / Dell / Lenovo)
  • Knowledge of OpenOffice 3 productivity suite
  • Knowledge of other Windows-based applications
  • Knowledge of IT Services Management tools (HP OpenView ServiceCenter, Vantive, Symantec Altiris HelpDesk solution, IBM Retain, etc)
  • Knowledge of IT Asset Management tools (HP OpenView AssetCenter, Symantec Altiris Asset Management Suite, etc)
  • Knowledge of screen capture / snapping tools

Personal skills:

  • Good analytical skills
  • Decent oral and writing communication skills.
  • Able to tackle problems independently.
  • Result-oriented with attention to quality.
  • A team player.
